Deurali Secondary School declared first digital school in Mahottari

MAHOTTARI: Deurali Secondary School, located in Bardibas Municipality-1, has been officially declared the first digital school in Mahottari.

At a programme held on Sunday, Mayor Prahlad Kumar Chhetri hailed the initiative as a significant step toward enhancing students’ access to modern technology.

“There’s a common perception in Madhes that community schools here lag behind in providing quality education,” the mayor said. “This move will send a positive message across Madhes.” He also inaugurated the digital boards installed in all classrooms of the school.

The school currently serves 1,200 students, from early childhood education through Grade 12. Additionally, about 200 students are enrolled in diploma-level courses under the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) in Civil Engineering, Survey Engineering, and Forestry.

According to Principal Kumar Ghimire, all classes will now be conducted using digital tools. “Our teachers are well-trained in digital instruction,” he said, adding that students who miss classes will have access to recorded lessons for review.

The school employs 26 staff members, including permanent, temporary, relief quota teachers, early childhood development educators, and municipal teachers. Despite growing enrollment at the secondary level, Principal Ghimire noted that only two teachers currently serve the secondary section.
