Durga Prasai-led group to abstain from RPP’s movement



KATHMANDU: The ‘National, Nationalist, Religious, Cultural and Citizen Protection Maha Abhiyan’, led by Durga Prasai, has directed its members not to take part in the pro-monarchy rally organized by the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) on Thursday, coinciding with Republic Day.

The directive comes from the group whose leader, Durga Prasai, remains in police custody as the main accused in the March 28 Tinkune incident, which resulted in the deaths of journalist Suresh Rajak and transport worker Sabin Maharjan.

In a statement issued by Premdip Limbu, Secretary of the Central Organization Department of the Maha Abhiyan, the group clarified its non-affiliation with the RPP-led event.

“Since the movement on May 29 is being led by the RPP, we urge all members not to participate, as there is no coordination or cooperation with them,” the statement read. “If any incident occurs, the Maha Abhiyan will not take responsibility.”
