Government to classify injured from Gen-Z protests, provide relief

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to classify individuals injured during the Gen-Z protests and provide appropriate relief accordingly.

Government spokesperson and Minister for Communication Jagdish Kharel said the Cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar on Sunday decided to form a technical committee to immediately begin the classification process and distribute relief based on the categories of injury.

The meeting also decided that the Ministry of Home Affairs will issue identity cards for the injured to ensure effective treatment. Designated hospitals will be assigned for further treatment, and “Gen-Z clinics” will be operated within those hospitals, according to Minister Kharel.

Similarly, the Cabinet approved the participation of Energy Minister Kulman Ghising in the 8th meeting of the International Solar Alliance to be held in New Delhi, India, from Kartik 10 to 13.

The meeting also endorsed the alignment of an additional road parallel to the existing Muglin–Pokhara highway section, from the Trishuli riverbank in Gorkha across Muglin Bazaar to the left bank of the Marsyangdi river near the Marsyangdi Hydropower Project. The road will be constructed with a standard width of 30 meters—15 meters on either side of the centerline.

In addition, the Cabinet appointed Ajaya Bhadra Khanal as Chief Advisor to Prime Minister Sushila Karki and Govinda Narayan Timilsina as Public Relations Advisor.
