Gyanendra Shahi calls for social boycott of Home Minister and his supporters

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chief Whip Gyanendra Shahi has called on the public to socially boycott those involved in the ongoing visit visa scam, including their supporters.

Speaking to the press outside the Federal Parliament building on Saturday, Shahi said social isolation is necessary to hold the guilty accountable and prevent such scandals in the future.

“We are boycotting them inside Parliament. Now it’s your turn — boycott them from tea shops to wedding receptions,” he told reporters, urging citizens to isolate those responsible so they “feel the weight of public rejection.”

Shahi, who is also RPP’s spokesperson, stressed that the visit visa scandal has tarnished Nepal’s image abroad and led to increased exploitation and suffering of Nepali youths overseas. He demanded that the government take the matter seriously and ensure action against the culprits.

RPP and the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) have both been obstructing parliamentary proceedings, demanding the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak over alleged involvement in the scam.
