PM Oli slams ‘selfish elements’ within party

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli has taken aim at internal dissenters, accusing certain “selfish elements” of acting as if the party’s General Convention has already begun, despite it still being far off.

Speaking at a tree-planting event organized by the National Youth Association on the occasion of late leader Madan Bhandari’s 74th birth anniversary in Chandragiri-13, Kankali, Oli stressed that the party’s priority is its “Mission 2084”—a drive to secure a single-party majority in the next general election.

“We are focused on Mission 2084 with unwavering determination,” Oli said. “Our interest lies in national prosperity, development, and good governance. This is no time to act as if the General Convention is around the corner. Only a few selfish people are behaving that way—our grassroots cadres are not.”

He warned that internal actions driven by personal agendas will be scrutinized and addressed accordingly.

Oli also touched on recent improvements in the national education sector, noting that 14 percent more students passed this year’s Secondary Education Examination (SEE) compared to last year. He committed to further reforms, including free online classes in key subjects to support students preparing for both retake exams and the next SEE cycle.
