Home Ministry holds emergency meeting after escalating pro-monarchy protests



KATHMANDU: An emergency meeting has been convened at the Home Ministry after protests by pro-monarchy group escalated into violence.

The meeting, chaired by Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak and attended by the Home Secretary and security officials, discussed the security situation.

A decision on the next course of action will be made after reviewing the situation, according to the Home Minister’s secretariat.

“The meeting has been held to assess the group’s protest and to determine the next steps. A curfew is also being imposed,” stated a spokesperson from the Home Minister’s secretariat.
