KATHMANDU: Nepal Police have intensified security measures across Kathmandu Valley as two major demonstrations—one pro-republican and the other pro-monarchist—are set to take place today.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Dinesh Kumar Acharya, spokesperson for Nepal Police, stated that security has been tightened at key intersections and gathering points to prevent any untoward incidents.

A large number of police personnel have been deployed across the valley, and additional forces are on standby.

The Socialist Front Nepal is organizing a vigilance meeting at Exhibition Road in support of the republic, while pro-monarchist groups are holding a demonstration in Tinkune, New Baneshwor.

Prior to the gatherings, rallies from various locations are converging at these designated sites.

Concerned about potential disruptions, many residents are navigating the city cautiously, anticipating possible disturbances to daily life due to the simultaneous protests.
