Removal of illegally built houses and huts begins in Nepalgunj

NEPALGUNJ: Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City has begun removing houses and huts encroaching upon land along the Ratna Highway, starting today.

The clearance work is being carried out within a 21-meter radius of the highway, from BP Chowk to Dhambojhi Chowk. Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City Mayor Prashant Bista stated that the operation follows the signing of a contract for the construction of disabled-friendly infrastructure in the area.

He added that the project also includes tree planting to enhance greenery, as well as the development of infrastructure stretching from Ganeshman Chowk to BP Chowk and from Dhambojhi Chowk to Puppalal Chowk within one and a half years.

Mayor Bista informed that the contract, valued at Rs 4.95 million, covers the removal of encroachments from BP Chowk to Dhambojhi Chowk. The sub-metropolitan city had earlier issued a public notice requesting that those occupying encroached land vacate the area.
