KATHMANDU: Four political groups are set to merge into the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on Thursday, party sources confirmed.

According to Prachanda’s private secretariat, the factions joining the NCP include the pro-merger group of the Janata Samajwadi Party, Jan Jagaran Party Nepal, the NCP Majority Rebel Group, and the NCP Maoist Rebel Group.

A formal welcoming and unification ceremony for the new members is scheduled at 1 PM at the Rastriya Sabha Griha, the secretariat said.

The merger is expected to consolidate various factions under Prachanda’s leadership and strengthen the party’s political base ahead of upcoming political developments.
