Both houses of parliament to meet tomorrow

KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives that was scheduled to meet at 11:00 am today has been postponed to 11 am tomorrow.

Speaker Devraj Ghimire held a meeting with the whips of the major political parties regarding the conduct of the HoR session but no conclusion was reached.

Hence, the meeting was adjourned until 11:00 am on Friday, said General Secretary of the Federal Parliament Secretariat Padma Prasad Pandey.

Opposition parties including the CPN (Maoist Centre), the Rastriya Swatantra Party, and the CPN (Unified Socialist) have demanded that the Prime Minister respond to the house over all the removal of Kulman Ghising from the position of Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority.

Likewise, the National Assembly meeting is scheduled to be held on Friday at 1:15 pm.

The upper house meeting began at 12:15 pm today but soon after the opposition party lawmakers obstructed it, leading Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal to adjourn it for an hour.

However, the Federal Parliament Secretariat published a notice informing MPs that the meeting would convene at 3:30 pm. But the meeting was adjourned citing special reasons.

The next meeting of the National Assembly has been scheduled to be held on Friday, said Pandey.
