Nepal Literature Festival 2025 begins in Pokhara

POKHARA: The Ncell Foundation ‘Nepal Literature Festival 2025’ commenced today at the scenic Barahi Ghat ground on the banks of Fewa Lake in Pokhara.

Organized by the Bookworm Foundation, this twelfth edition of the festival will continue until March 2, celebrating literature, art, and culture.

Dubbed the ‘Kumbh Mela of Literature,’ the festival was inaugurated by Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung.

The opening ceremony featured a scholarly lecture by economist and professor Mahendra P. Lama, followed by a special musical performance by Anil Shahi and his group.

The event’s first dialogue session saw a conversation between actress Manisha Koirala and writer-journalist Vijay Kumar.

Subsequent discussions included an interaction between Basanta Thapa and authors Kanti Sherchan and Kavita Sherchan, as well as a media-focused dialogue with Communications Minister Gurung led by Vijay Timalsina.

A session titled ‘Science of Indigenous Knowledge’ was also held, featuring Sita Mademba’s interaction with Subhash Nepali, Geeta Chaudhary, and Suresh Dhakal.

Additionally, journalist Bharat Koirala engaged in a conversation with Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey about the opportunities and challenges of the provincial government.

The festival will feature over 50 discussion panels, interactive programs, musical performances, and creative events, with the participation of more than 200 literary figures, artists, journalists, and distinguished personalities from Nepal and abroad.
