KATHMANDU: Hindus across Nepal are celebrating Mahashivaratri today with worship, prayers, and offerings at Shiva temples nationwide.
Observed on the midnight of Krishna Chaturdashi in the month of Falgun every year, Mahashivaratri is dedicated to Lord Shiva, one of the principal deities of the Vedic Sanatan Hindu religion.
Devotees began the day with ritual baths in rivers, ponds, and lakes, followed by visits to Shiva temples with deep devotion and reverence.
Major Shiva temples, including the renowned Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu, have seen a huge influx of devotees since early morning, with people offering prayers and participating in various religious activities.
