KATHMANDU: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has announced plans to make the Postal Service Department more democratic and modern.

In his remarks at the ‘One Local Level, One Post Office’ program, organized by the Postal Service Department at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Minister Gurung emphasized the need for a change in postal policies.

He highlighted that development has been hindered by outdated policies and procedures that have not evolved alongside the country’s transformation.

He assured that efforts are underway to amend all old policies and laws within this year to bring them up to date.

Given the long-standing importance of postal services, the Minister stressed the need for modernization and technological upgrades.

“It is time to change the postal policy,” said Minister Gurung. “The ministry is committed to making postal services more technology-friendly.”

The program also saw participation from employees of local-level post offices. Minister Gurung urged them to adopt a public service-oriented approach to postal services.

“Start with the Goswara Post Office, which stands at the center of postal service effectiveness, and work to enhance postal services in your respective areas,” he said.
