KATHMANDU: Police have arrested three foreign nationals in possession of 4.3 kilogrammes of cocaine from Kathmandu.
A team from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Koteswor, arrested the suspects from the Sinamangal area of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-9. The arrestees were made public on Wednesday.
According to the Bureau’s Assistant Spokesperson, DSP Jeewan Niraula, those arrested are Rusani Kama, 40, of Thailand; Javier Mathew Thaliyacheri, 55, of India; and Mursalen Hussein, also an Indian national.
DSP Niraula said the trio was arrested in the course of an investigation and was found to be involved in cocaine trafficking.
Police seized 550 grammes of cocaine from Thai national Kama, who had arrived in Kathmandu via Thailand. Similarly, 3 kilogrammes and 750 grammes of cocaine were recovered from Indian national Javier, who entered Nepal from Laos via Singapore, while Mursalen had also arrived in Nepal to transport cocaine.
The Bureau stated that 12 capsules of cocaine were recovered from Kama, while a large quantity was found concealed inside a suitcase belonging to the Indian national.
Further investigation into the case is underway under the Narcotic Drugs Control Act, 2033 BS, police said.
