KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index increased by 5.32 points on Tuesday, closing at 2,655.99. With this, the market has recorded a continuous rise for the past three trading days.
Despite the gain in the benchmark index, overall turnover declined. Tuesday’s total transaction amount stood at Rs 5.82 billion, down from Rs 7.03 billion recorded the previous day.
A total of 122 listed companies saw their share prices increase, while 125 declined and 10 remained unchanged. The market witnessed mild fluctuations throughout the day but ultimately closed in positive territory.
Sector-wise performance was mixed. The hotels and tourism subgroup posted the highest growth of 1.4 percent. Banking rose by 0.19 percent, finance by 0.02 percent, hydropower by 0.19 percent, investment by 0.23 percent, manufacturing and processing by 1.30 percent, microfinance by 0.04 percent, non-life insurance by 0.65 percent, and others by 0.49 percent.
On the other hand, trading fell by 1.33 percent, life insurance by 0.30 percent, and development banks by 0.24 percent.
