JHAPA: Police have arrested three individuals from Damak with two pistols that were looted from the Metropolitan Police Office, Kathmandu, during the Gen-Z protests. Officers also recovered 20 rounds of ammunition from their possession.
According to the District Police Office, those arrested are Bishwo Lingden (29) of Prashantitol, Damak-6; Saroj Puri (26) of Damak-9; and Pawan Hangsunwa (30) of Aitabare, Chulachuli-4, Ilam.
A team deployed from the Narcotics Control Bureau’s Kakarbhitta branch under Inspector Kumar Somesh Lamichhane, along with personnel from Damak Area Police Office, arrested Saroj Puri from near his rented room in Damak-8. Police recovered a Type-54 Chinese pistol and 15 rounds of ammunition from him.
During questioning, Puri revealed that another weapon was kept with Bishwo Lingden, prompting police to arrest Lingden from his residence.
Lingden later admitted that he had sold the second pistol to Pawan Hangsunwa of Ilam for Rs 20,000.
A joint police team then reached Hangsunwa’s field, where the second Type-54 Chinese pistol, loaded with five rounds and found rusted, was recovered from a hole where it had been buried inside a red plastic bag.
All three have been brought to Damak and will be sent to Kathmandu along with the recovered weapons and ammunition for further action.
