Five road sections closed, four partially open after heavy rains

KATHMANDU: Heavy rainfall has triggered floods and landslides, disrupting major highways and roads across the country.

According to Nepal Police, five road sections have been completely blocked, while four others are operating only partially, police said.

On the Koshi Highway, road connectivity has been cut off in Sankhuwasabha after landslides struck Bhotkhola Rural Municipality-4 Barun and Makalu Rural Municipality-Ekuwa.

In Rasuwa, flooding forced the closure of the bridge connecting Nepal and China at Gosaikunda Rural Municipality-2. Similarly, the Narayangadh-Muglin road in Chitwan remains entirely closed after a landslide struck Tuinkhola in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality-5.

Another major disruption occurred along the Mid-Hill Highway, where a landslide at Kandabagar in Bhume Rural Municipality-4, Rukum East, has fully blocked traffic.

Authorities have mobilized personnel and equipment to clear the debris, but with continuous rainfall, resumption of smooth traffic is expected to take time. Travelers have been urged to seek alternative routes where possible.
