People’s courage to rise from earthquake disaster is incomparable: Prachanda

KAHTMANDU: Maoist Centre Chair and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that the courage, resilience, and determination shown by the Nepali people in the aftermath of the Gorkha earthquake a decade ago is truly incomparable.

In a message shared via his social media handle today to mark the 10th anniversary of the 2015 Gorkha Earthquake, Dahal acknowledged the people’s unwavering spirit in the face of immense tragedy.

“While significant progress has been made in reconstruction, many people are still facing challenges related to education, healthcare, drinking water, roads, infrastructure, and employment,” he stated.

Reflecting on his time in office, Dahal noted, “During my second term as Prime Minister, I worked toward the reconstruction of earthquake-affected areas, including Barpak. With the support and cooperation of the local communities, many initiatives were successfully implemented. My third term also saw notable efforts in strengthening disaster management.”

He expressed gratitude for the trust, encouragement, and suggestions received from the public, stating that it has strengthened their commitment to the reconstruction and development efforts.

“We have faced disasters with unity in the past, and I firmly believe we can still achieve our national goals of development and prosperity through shared purpose and cooperation,” he said in his message.
