Minister Khadka seeks third clarification from Kulman Ghising

Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Deepak Khadka has issued a third clarification notice to Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Managing Director Kulman Ghising, citing dissatisfaction with his previous responses.

Stating that the past two explanations were neither objective nor satisfactory, Minister Khadka has asked Ghising to submit a detailed report within 24 hours justifying why he should not be removed from his position.

The notice references the performance agreement signed between the ministry and Ghising on January 19, 2022, as well as the NEA’s service regulations.

No family should endure what we have endured, says Prakriti Lamsal’s father

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli spoke with Sunil Lamsal, the father of Nepali student Prakriti Lamsal, who was recently found dead in her hostel room at KIIT University in Odisha, India.

The conversation took place after UML leader Madhesh Basnet visited the grieving family at their home in Bhairahawa to express his condolences.

During the emotional conversation, Sunil Lamsal urged the Prime Minister to ensure that no other Nepali family faces such a tragedy in the future. He expressed his deep sorrow but emphasized the need for action to safeguard the lives of other Nepali students studying abroad.

Maoist Tarai-Madhes awakening campaign reaches Morang

The central team of the Maoist Tarai-Madhes Awakening Campaign, led by Maoist Center Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ arrived in Morang today as part of the campaign launched from Kachankawal, Jhapa, on Monday.

Continuing the initiative aimed at strengthening party ties and addressing grievances in the Terai-Madhes region, Dahal, accompanied by central office bearers, visited the family of martyr Laxmi Phuyal in Kanepokhari Rural Municipality-6, Morang.

The visit marked the beginning of the day’s program, emphasizing the party’s commitment to honoring the sacrifices made during the People’s War.

18 injured as bus overturns on BP Highway in Dhulikhel

Eighteen people were injured in a bus accident this morning at Shardabatas in Dhulikhel Municipality-10, along the BP Highway in Kavrepalanchok.

According to the District Police Office, the passenger bus (Bagmati Province-3-01-005 Kha 9942), traveling from Kathmandu to Okhaldhunga, lost control and overturned into a roadside ditch.

The incident occurred when the bus, carrying 24 people, including the driver and co-driver, veered off the road.

Two dead, five injured in Baglung jeep accident

A jeep accident in Badigad, Baglung, has resulted in two fatalities and five injuries.

The incident occurred on Tuesday evening when the jeep (Lu 3 Cha 5569), traveling from Badigad Rural Municipality-7 Bhimgithe to Badigad-10 Darling, overturned on an uphill road, according to local police.

The victims who lost their lives in the crash have been identified as Khadka Bahadur Kuwar, 75, from Cholang, Nisikhola Rural Municipality-7, and Juna Kandel, 35, from Dhorpatan Municipality-5.

Gold price reaches new all-time high

Gold prices have hit a record high today, making it the most expensive it has ever been in the Nepali market.

According to the Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers Federation, the price of gold has surged to Rs 171,300 per tola today, setting a new all-time high.

Yesterday (Monday), the price was Rs 170,800, with an increase of Rs 500 per tola. This rise has pushed gold prices to a historic peak.
