Central laboratory service launched at BPKIHS

DHARAN: BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan has started providing all laboratory testing services round the clock.

According to the institute’s spokesperson, Prof. Dr. Anju Pradhan, laboratory test reports will be made available within two hours for patients receiving emergency and Emergency Health Services (EHS), and within three hours for outpatient and inpatient (OPD and IPD) services from the time samples are received.

For this purpose, a ‘central laboratory’ has been launched from 21 December by integrating the previously operating emergency and routine laboratories. Earlier, only limited types of tests were available through the emergency laboratory. The new system has ended the dual process of sending samples separately to routine and emergency laboratories.

Spokesperson Pradhan said the integrated system is expected to ensure timely and convenient availability of laboratory reports, particularly during ward rounds. The institute has also stated that laboratory sample collection will now be available round the clock for patients receiving emergency, OPD, IPD and EHS services.
