Russia preparing peace document draft

MOSCOW: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov revealed that Moscow is preparing a draft peace document outlining its conditions for a long-term agreement with Ukraine, to be presented once the ongoing prisoner exchange is completed.

In a statement published on the Russian Foreign Ministry’s website, Lavrov emphasized that Russia remains committed to reaching a peaceful resolution to the war with Kyiv, which has been ongoing for more than three years.

He noted however that Ukraine was launching several drone attacks on Russian targets in recent days, resulting in casualties and disrupting air traffic.

He accused European countries of encouraging Ukraine to carry out these attacks in order to sabotage peace efforts led by US President Donald Trump.

Lavrov stressed that Russia is dedicated to a peaceful settlement and was always open to dialogue, reiterating Moscow’s commitment to the agreements recently negotiated in Istanbul.

Lavrov said that work is currently underway on the second part of the agreements, which involve each party drafting a document that outlines the necessary terms for a credible and lasting peace deal. He said that once the prisoner exchange is concluded, Russia will be ready to hand over its draft to Ukraine for further discussion.
