Trump’s Taylor Swift remark sparks social media backlash

NEW YORK: Former U.S. President Donald Trump is once again in the spotlight—this time for a controversial remark about American pop star Taylor Swift.

Known for his history of provocative statements and political moves, Trump has once more stirred debate across social media.

On his personal social platform, Truth Social, Trump wrote: “Has anyone noticed—ever since I said I hate Taylor Swift, she hasn’t been hot?”

The remark quickly went viral, drawing backlash from social media users and public figures alike. Many criticized it as insensitive, misogynistic, and inappropriate, especially coming from a former head of state.

Some commentators have interpreted the comment as a reflection of Trump’s lingering resentment over Swift’s political stance. In the lead-up to the 2024 U.S. presidential election, Taylor Swift openly endorsed Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.

Although Trump’s campaign team initially brushed off Swift’s endorsement, Trump later responded harshly. Since then, his attitude toward the pop icon has grown increasingly negative, culminating in his latest viral post.
