Minister Anil Kumar Sinha initiates process to amend Land Use Regulations

KATHMANDU: Anil Kumar Sinha, Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation, has decided to move forward with amendments to the Land Use Regulations to address ongoing challenges in land reform implementation.

Assuming office on Tuesday, Minister Sinha noted that while land reform programs are in place, certain issues persist, requiring changes to the regulations. He highlighted that halted land clearing has complicated development efforts, making regulatory amendments necessary for smoother facilitation.

The minister also stated that local governments lack sufficient authority, and the central government will provide the required support. Additionally, he signed preliminary decisions to establish a Land Bank.

Minister Sinha praised ministry employees for fulfilling their duties during the Gen-Z movement-related arson incidents, emphasizing their commitment under challenging circumstances.

Earlier, on Monday, he took charge at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies. Minister Sinha now holds responsibilities for land management, industry, and law.
