Nepali women’s football team departs for AFC Asian Cup qualifiers (Photos)



KATHMANDU: The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) bid farewell to the national women’s football team on Monday as they prepare to compete in the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers in Uzbekistan.

Speaking at the farewell ceremony, Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Hari Prasad Lamsal, extended his best wishes for the team’s success. ANFA President Pankaj Bikram Nembang also wished the team success in securing a spot in the Asian Cup by topping their group.

Nepal is placed in Group F alongside hosts Uzbekistan, Laos, and Sri Lanka. Head coach Patrick de Wilde had earlier announced a 23-member final squad on Asar 6.

Nepal will kick off its qualification campaign against Laos on Asar 15, followed by matches against Sri Lanka on Asar 18 and Uzbekistan on Asar 21.

The team must finish top of their group to qualify for the AFC Asian Cup.
