KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has granted permission to extend the detention of medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) leader Rabindra Mishra, and 22 others for an additional three days.

A bench led by Judge Dhruvraj Karki issued the decision to allow further investigation into charges of crimes against the state, according to police sources.

The individuals were arrested in connection with a violent protest in Tinkune, Kathmandu on March 28 (Chaitra 15), which resulted in the death of two people.

Meanwhile, RPP General Secretary Dhawal Shamsher Jabara, who was also arrested under the same charges, has been released to undergo cancer treatment, despite the ongoing investigation.
