Land Minister Adhikari assigned additional responsibility for Ministry of Education

KATHMANDU: Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation Balaram Adhikari has also been assigned the responsibility of leading the Ministry of Education.

Following the resignation of Education Minister Bidya Bhattarai two days ago, the ministry had remained under the direct supervision of Prime Minister KP Oli. However, it has now been temporarily entrusted to Minister Adhikari.

According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, Adhikari’s additional role takes effect from Wednesday.

While the ministry itself has not issued an official notification, the Secretariat stated that the decision will be formally communicated during the upcoming House of Representatives meeting.

Minister Adhikari was seen participating in talks with protesting teachers on Wednesday morning.

“He has now been tasked with attending the House meeting, engaging with teachers, and representing the Ministry of Education on relevant issues,” the Secretariat informed Khabarhub.

Meanwhile, Neelkantha Dhakal, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, confirmed that Adhikari has not yet arrived at the ministry.

“The minister has not visited the ministry, and we were not officially informed about his appointment,” Dhakal said.
