Nepali killed in Kashmir attack identified as Sudip Neupane from Butwal



KATHMANDU: The identity of the Nepali citizen killed in the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, India, has been confirmed as 26-year-old Sudip Neupane of Butwal-11, Kalikanagar, Rupandehi.

Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba announced the confirmation on Wednesday, expressing sorrow over Neupane’s death and extending condolences to his family.

Neupane was shot dead while walking on the road when a group of gunmen suddenly opened fire. His mother, Rima Neupane, sustained injuries during the attack.

“I am deeply saddened by the news of the death of Nepali citizen Sudip Neupane in the terrorist attack. I pay my heartfelt tributes and wish his injured mother a speedy recovery,” Minister Rana wrote on social media.

Neupane had been visiting Kashmir with his mother, sister Sushma, and brother-in-law Ujjwal Kafle. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is coordinating with Indian authorities for further updates on the incident.

According to Indian media reports, 26 people were killed and 10 others injured in the attack on Tuesday afternoon, including Neupane.
