KATHMANDU: Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, the chairman of the main opposition CPN-Maoist Center, has dismissed speculation about his party’s intention to join the government.

Speaking at Surkhet Airport on Thursday, Dahal clarified that his party was not involved in efforts to change the government, despite claims from the Nepali Congress and UML suggesting otherwise.

Dahal criticized the current government for allegedly protecting corrupt individuals and feeding brokers.

He accused the ruling coalition, led by the Nepali Congress and UML, of fostering corruption. He also pointed out internal tensions within the UML, particularly stemming from Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s actions, suggesting that the country’s political situation remains tense and complicated.

The Maoist leader further condemned the government’s use of ordinances to bypass parliamentary procedures, which he described as an improper method of governance.

Dahal claimed that opposition parties were forced to call a special session after the government imposed an ordinance, rather than convening Parliament in the usual manner.
