Krishnapur Municipality upgrading 45 km of roads this fiscal year

KATHMANDU: Krishnapur Municipality has initiated a project to upgrade 45 kilometers of roads within the ongoing fiscal year.

As part of the initiative, road improvements are being carried out at a rate of five kilometers in each of the municipality’s nine wards. The first phase of the project commenced from Maluwela in Ward No. 4.

Mayor Hemraj Ojha stated that the road upgrades are being implemented using equipment such as tippers, loaders, tractors, and rollers available within the municipality.

A budget of NPR 5 million has been allocated for the project, with an estimated cost of Rs 1 million per kilometer. The upgrades are being executed through the user committee model, fostering community involvement. “The locals have shown strong ownership of the road improvement works, as it is being conducted using internal resources,” Mayor Ojha noted.

In the previous fiscal year, the municipality successfully upgraded 25 kilometers of roads.

Additionally, in the current fiscal year, blacktopping of roads within the municipality area is being undertaken at a cost of Rs 120 million, funded by the federal and provincial governments.
