Gold, silver prices hit all-time highs in Nepal

KATHMANDU: Prices of both gold and silver hit all-time highs in the domestic market on Monday, continuing their upward trend.

According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the price of gold has been fixed at Rs 261,700 per tola on Monday. This is an increase of Rs 3,400 per tola compared to the previous day.

The new rate has broken the record set just a week ago. Last Monday, gold prices had surged to Rs 260,700 per tola, surpassing all previous records at the time.

Silver prices have also been making new records over the past few days. On Monday, the price of silver increased by Rs 130 per tola compared to the previous day, reaching Rs 4,235 per tola. Silver had been traded at Rs 4,105 per tola a day earlier.

The surge in domestic prices comes amid a rally in the international market as well. In international trading, gold reached USD 4,397 per ounce, while silver climbed to USD 69.37 per ounce.

Traders say the sharp rise in global prices, coupled with market uncertainty, has continued to push precious metal prices to record levels in Nepal.
