12th Nepal Literature Festival to begin on February 27 in Pokhara



POKHARA: The 12th edition of the Nepal Literature Festival is set to kick off on February  27 at Barahighat, Pokhara, and will run until March 2, as announced by the Bookworm Foundation during a press conference on Friday.

The festival will be inaugurated by Minister for Information, Communications, and Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung.

This year’s event, presented by the Ncell Foundation with Buddha Air as an associate and Gandaki Province Government as a co-promoter, is also being promoted by Pokhara Metropolitan City.

Neeraj Bhari, the festival’s executive director, stated that preparations for session halls and stalls are nearly complete.

The festival will feature more than 50 discussion sessions, interactive programs, musical performances, and other creative activities, bringing together over 200 literary figures, politicians, writers, artists, journalists, and distinguished personalities from Nepal and abroad.

The event will open with a scholarly talk by Professor and Economist Mahendra P. Lama, who is the Pro-Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi Open University (IGOU) and the founding Vice Chancellor of Sikkim University, India.

A special dialogue between Manisha Koirala and Vijay Kumar on spirituality and struggle is anticipated to be one of the main highlights. Additionally, the cover and book excerpt of Nepali cinema legend Rajesh Hamal’s book ‘Yug Dehi Yug Samma’ will be unveiled, alongside the launch of the highly anticipated book ‘Akshat Antarctica’ by Jiba Lamichhane.

Prominent personalities, including former Nepali cricket captain Paras Khadka, Dr. Bhagwan Koirala, American social worker and CNN Hero Maggie Doyne, and Nepali-American writer Ranjan Adiga, will also be participating. Adiga is scheduled for two sessions, including a dialogue with Bhushita Vasistha on his short story collection, ‘Leech and Other Stories’.
