Rabi Lamichhane’s hearing begins in Rupandehi



KATHMANDU: The statement has begun in the District Court Rupandehi in the case against Rastriya Swatantra Party Chair and former Deputy Prime Minister, Rabi Lamichhane, who is accused of fraud related to the Supreme Cooperative.

Lamichhane appeared in court as hearings commenced on his involvement in the alleged embezzlement of over Rs 861 million from 1,831 savers in the cooperative.

The case is being heard by Judge Pralhad Kumar Yogi.

A fraud and organized crime case was filed against Lamichhane on Sunday, accusing him of orchestrating the misappropriation of funds while he was in Managing Director of Gorkha Media Network.

Police investigations have revealed that over Rs 142.9 million was transferred from the cooperative to Gorkha Media Network, with Rs 20 million linked to Lamichhane.

Lamichhane was previously released on bail of Rs 6.5 million in Kaski and Rs 6 million in Kathmandu.
