Heavy rain forecast in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim

KATHMANDU: Monsoon winds continue to affect Nepal, with the monsoon low-pressure trough currently positioned slightly north of its average location.

As a result, the country is expected to remain partly to generally cloudy throughout the day, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

The Department has reported the likelihood of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in some hilly areas, particularly in Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as a few other parts of the country.

Additionally, heavy rainfall is expected at one or two locations in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces. In higher elevations, including the high-hilly and mountainous regions, light to moderate rain or snowfall is also possible.

Tonight, conditions are forecast to remain partly to generally cloudy nationwide. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected in hilly areas of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, with scattered rainfall in other regions.

The Department has also issued a forecast for the possibility of heavy rain at one or two places in Gandaki Province.

Authorities have advised the public to remain alert in areas prone to landslides, flash floods, and other monsoon-related hazards.
