KATHMANDU: Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has expressed doubts about the longevity of the coalition government led by the Nepali Congress and UML.

Speaking to media representatives at Bharatpur Airport in Chitwan on Tuesday, Dahal speculated that the KP Sharma Oli-led government is unlikely to endure.

“We do not think this government will last long. I have said this clearly. This coalition is not natural. It is not transparent either. Its work is also going backwards. It has become a shameful situation when it comes to the ordinance,” Dahal remarked.

Despite predicting the collapse of the government, Dahal emphasized that forming a government is not the Maoist Center’s priority at present, stating that the party is focused on organizational development.

The remarks came as Nepali Congress leaders Dr Shashank Koirala and Dr. Chandra Bhandari were present alongside Prachanda in the VIP lounge of the airport.

While Koirala acknowledged his cooperation with the UML in hopes of achieving political stability, he refrained from commenting directly on Dahal’s prediction. Bhandari, meanwhile, chose not to respond to the statement.

Dahal’s comments underscore ongoing political tensions and uncertainty surrounding the stability of the coalition government.
