KATHMANDU: The International Panchang Decision Committee has announced auspicious timings for the application of tika during Bijaya Dashami for Nepali Hindu communities living abroad.
According to Member Secretary Acharya Laxman Panthi, the timings have been determined based on local calendars and adjusted to each country’s local time. The decision follows numerous inquiries from Hindu devotees around the world regarding tika schedules.
For Nepal, the auspicious time falls on October 2 (Ashoj 16) at 11:53 a.m. In India’s capital, New Delhi, it will be at 11:49 a.m. the same day. For New York, USA, the time is October 1 at 11:25 a.m. Other U.S. cities include Frankfurt, Kentucky at 11:57 a.m., Owensboro, Kentucky at 11:05 a.m., Texas at 11:33 a.m., Washington DC at 11:35 a.m., California at 11:11 a.m., and Colorado at 11:29 a.m.
In Canada, Toronto will observe the auspicious time at 11:55 a.m. on October 1, and Vancouver at 11:33 a.m. In Asia-Pacific, Tokyo, Japan will mark it on October 2 at 11:31 a.m., while Sydney, Australia will observe it at 11:43 a.m., Melbourne at 11:19 a.m., Brisbane at 11:53 a.m., Adelaide at 11:35 a.m., Canberra at 11:51 a.m., Tasmania at 11:45 a.m., Perth at 11:25 a.m., and Darwin at 11:47 a.m.
Similarly, Wellington, New Zealand will observe the auspicious time on October 2 at 11:23 a.m. European cities include Lisbon, Portugal at 9:23 a.m., London, UK at 9:17 a.m., Paris, France at 9:57 a.m., Oslo, Norway at 10:03 a.m., and Geneva, Switzerland at 10:25 a.m.
In the Middle East and Asia, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia will observe it at 11:11 a.m., Abu Dhabi, UAE at 10:55 a.m., Doha, Qatar at 10:13 a.m., Bangkok, Thailand at 10:45 a.m., Seoul, South Korea at 10:57 a.m., Tel Aviv, Israel at 11:35 a.m., Singapore at 11:09 a.m., Hong Kong at 11:45 a.m., Riyadh, Saudi Arabia at 10:55 a.m., Yangon, Myanmar at 10:27 a.m., and Malta at 10:55 a.m.
Committee Vice Chair Prof. Dr. Devmani Bhattarai stated that these times have been published to ensure that Nepali Hindus worldwide can observe Dashain tika at the appropriate moment.
