UML central committee meeting scheduled for Monday

KATHMANDU: The Central Committee meeting of the CPN-UML is set to take place on Monday at 11 AM at the party’s central office in Chyasal, Lalitpur.

According to UML publicity department chief Rajendra Gautam, the meeting will discuss a range of issues, including the proposed amendments to the party statute, updates on organizational work, and preparations for the upcoming Statute Convention.

The statute amendment proposal, which was previously endorsed by the party’s Secretariat and Politburo meetings, will be tabled for discussion. The proposal includes the removal of the age limit of 70 years and the two-term cap for holding executive positions within the party.

The revised structure also envisions three tiers of leadership—Standing Committee, Politburo, and Central Committee. The UML’s Central Committee is currently structured to have 357 members.

Gautam confirmed that the meeting will continue for two days, concluding on Tuesday.
