Pakistan, Nepal reaffirm commitment to strengthen bilateral ties through parliamentary diplomacy



KATHMANDU: Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, Abrar H. Hashmi, met today with the Pakistan-Nepal Parliamentary Friendship Group of the Federal Parliament of Nepal.

The interaction, held in a spirit of mutual cooperation, was attended by honourable members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group, diplomats from the Embassy of Pakistan, and representatives of the Nepal-Pakistan Friendship and Cultural Association.

In his remarks, Ambassador Hashmi commended the enduring and cordial relations between Pakistan and Nepal, rooted in shared cultural heritage, mutual respect, and regional affinity.

He emphasized the value of deep people-to-people connections and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening ties between the two Parliaments, while enhancing cooperation in key sectors such as trade, tourism, education, health, culture, climate resilience, and regional peace.

The Ambassador also provided an overview of recent developments in Pakistan’s economy and the regional landscape, underscoring Pakistan’s vision for a peaceful and prosperous South Asia.

He welcomed the Nepali Parliament’s interest in fostering parliamentary diplomacy and building institutional linkages for long-term collaboration.

Members of the Pakistan-Nepal Parliamentary Friendship Group expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s consistent support to Nepal and lauded the friendly nature of bilateral relations, free of irritants.

They emphasized the importance of continued parliamentary exchanges in promoting mutual understanding and exploring new areas of cooperation—including economic development, cultural exchange, youth engagement, empowerment of women and marginalized groups, technical assistance, and capacity-building initiatives.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to work together regularly to enhance multifaceted relations and build stronger institutional linkages.

The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to further deepen the bonds of friendship between the two countries and their peoples.
