Students trained in ‘house wiring’ in Myagdi

MYAGDI: Students at Saraswati Secondary School in Singa Tatopani, Beni Municipality-4, have received training in house wiring.

As part of Beni Municipality’s ‘We Can, We Do’ program, students from grades 8, 9, and 10 were taught practical skills related to electrical wiring in homes and buildings. Principal Gurudatta Poudel stated that 19 students participated in the twenty-day training.

The training, facilitated by Arjun Dhungana from Beni, covered both theoretical and practical aspects of electrical installation in residential and commercial buildings.

John Pun, an eighth grader who took part, expressed his excitement about gaining useful skills applicable in daily life and society.

He added that the foundational knowledge gained through the training would help them manage electrical work at home and in their communities, and could also open opportunities for self-employment in the future. Sessions were held every afternoon from 4 to 6 pm after school hours at the school premises.

Beni Municipality launched the ‘We Can, We Do’ program to bridge education with practical skills and labor by providing secondary-level students with skill-based training.

A total budget of Rs. 1.6 million was allocated to 16 schools in the municipality, with each school receiving Rs. 100,000.

Approximately 500 students from community schools across Beni Municipality are expected to participate in various skill development trainings, according to Mayor Surat KC.
