Temporary police post established at provincial border in Palpa

RAMPUR: A temporary police post has been established at Bhotaha, located in Nisdi Rural Municipality-1 of Palpa district, near the border between Lumbini Province and Gandaki Province.

The post has been set up to strengthen local security and enhance law enforcement efforts in the area.

With increasing traffic along the Kaligandaki Corridor, authorities have established police posts at key border points between the two provinces to curb smuggling and illegal activities, ensure public safety in Nisdi Rural Municipality-1 and 2, reduce road accidents, and prevent other criminal incidents.

Nisdi Rural Municipality Chairperson Mukt Bahadur Saru said the municipality has extended necessary support for the operation of the new post, which is currently functioning out of a rented building. The municipality also plans to provide a motorcycle for police use.

With this addition, Palpa district now has a total of 25 police posts—19 permanent and 6 temporary. According to Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai at the District Police Office, the new post was established following approval from the Police Headquarters in Baisakh, after completing all required preparations.

Chief District Officer Toyanarayan Subedi stated that the post will play a crucial role in monitoring and controlling cross-border illegal activities, particularly between Palpa in Lumbini Province and Nawalpur in Gandaki Province.
