Nepal-China ties harmonious: Deputy Speaker Rana

KATHMANDU: Deputy Speaker Indira Rana has said that the bilateral ties between Nepal and China are a top priority.

Addressing the parade programme organized in Kathmandu on the occasion of Chinese New Year, Rana expressed the opinion that there is a harmonious and problem-free relationship between the two countries.

“The roots of our relationship are deep and multifaceted. We are very happy with the harmonious and problem-free relationship between the two countries and we attach great importance and priority to our relationship with China,” she said.

Deputy Speaker Rana reiterated that Nepal has always been a strong supporter of the One China policy.

“Nepal has always been a strong supporter of the One China policy and will continue to be committed to it in the future. We are firm in our policy and commitment not to allow any activity against China by using Nepalese land.”

She said that Nepal will always appreciate China’s unconditional respect for Nepal’s sovereignty, geographical integrity and independence.

Stating that the two countries have achieved historic progress and dynamism in bilateral relations through regular exchange of high-level visits and programmes, Deputy Speaker Rana also expressed her belief that the important decisions and agreements reached during the official visits will bring new dynamism to bilateral relations and cooperation.

Deputy Speaker Rana underscored on speeding up the implementation of the Trans Himalayan Platform to expand the connectivity between Nepal and China, South Asia, South East Asia and other countries in Central Asia.

China’s Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song said that the parade organized during the celebration of the 70th anniversary of China-Nepal diplomatic relations and the Chinese New Year is of special importance and expressed his belief that it will be an excellent opportunity to advance the close and continuously growing relationship between the two countries. On that occasion, various cultures of China and Nepal were displayed.
