Nepali Congress condemns attack on Koshi Province President Thapa

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has strongly condemned the attack on its Koshi Province President and parliamentary party leader, former Chief Minister Uddhav Thapa, in Jhapa on Saturday.

Thapa was reportedly assaulted near a tunnel in Kankai Municipality while returning from a program organized by the Nepal Press Union. The incident left him with a forehead injury, the party stated.

Issuing a statement, Congress Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel wished for Thapa’s speedy recovery and called on the government to thoroughly investigate the incident.

He also urged for legal action against those responsible, labeling the attack as an act of anarchy and criminality.
