Bagmati Province collects Rs 16.11 billion in revenue in first five months



BAGMATI: The Bagmati Province Government has collected revenue worth Rs 16.11 billion in the first five months of the current fiscal year 2025/26, achieving 23.88 percent of its annual revenue target.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Planning Development, the revenue was collected between Shrawan and Mangsir. Indraraj Sanyal, an official at the ministry, said property registration tax and vehicle tax remain the province’s primary sources of income.

During the review period, the provincial government collected Rs 8.84 billion from property registration and vehicle taxes alone. For the current fiscal year, the government has set a target of collecting Rs 30.89 billion under these two major revenue headings.

In addition, the province collected Rs 2.95 billion from vehicle inspection passes, route permits, and the distribution and renewal of driving licenses.

Similarly, revenue from value added tax (VAT) stood at Rs 3.68 billion, while excise duty contributed Rs 4.37 billion to the provincial treasury, according to ministry data.

Meanwhile, from internally generated revenue sources, the province had set a target of Rs 4.77 billion for fiscal year 2025/26. Of this, Rs 1.50 billion, equivalent to 31.44 percent, was collected in the first five months.
