KATHMANDU: A Kathmandu police team from the Valley Crime Investigation Office has arrested two people accused of defrauding 42 million rupees by promising work visas to the UK.
The arrested suspects are 22-year-old Adarsh Timalsina, from Sindhupalchok’s Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-7 and currently residing in Gokarneshwar-7, Kathmandu, and 34-year-old Ashish Khokhali, from Indrawati Rural Municipality-4, Sindhupalchok, also residing in Gokarneshwar-7.
Information Officer Kajikumar Acharya of the Valley Crime Investigation Office said Timalsina allegedly collected 30.5 million rupees and Khokhali 11.5 million rupees from a single victim under the pretext of sending them to the UK for work. Both fled after receiving the money, prompting the complaint and subsequent police action.
Khokhali is reportedly the operator of the consultancy Jen Shiksha on Facebook. The suspects were arrested from Kathmandu-12 and handed over to the District Police Office, Bhadrakali, for further investigation and legal proceedings.
