Infrastructure Development Office established in Diktel

KHOTANG: The Koshi Province Government has established an Infrastructure Development Office in Hatdanda, Diktel Bazaar, under Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-1, aiming to expedite and enhance the quality of development projects in Khotang district.

The decision was made during a recent Council of Ministers meeting, which resolved to set up such offices in all 14 districts of Koshi Province.

With this new office under the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development and its Infrastructure Development Directorate, locals in Khotang no longer need to travel to Udayapur, Okhaldhunga, Biratnagar, or other districts for project-related procedures such as planning approvals, agreements, and settlements.

The office has been established in a rented building and was formally inaugurated by Bhupendra Rai, Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development and Health of the Koshi Province Government.

Speaking at the inauguration, Minister Rai emphasized that these district-level offices are expected to bring efficiency and transparency to project implementation.

“Previously, we had to travel long distances just to process our development plans. Now, everything from planning to execution will be handled within the district. This will save time, reduce delays, and improve the quality of construction works,” he said, calling the initiative a practical achievement of federalism.

Currently, three staff members, including the office chief, have been assigned to the new office, which has 13 sanctioned positions.

Ministry Secretary Sah stated that arrangements are being made to fill the remaining posts and ensure the office is fully operational in the coming days.

According to Santosh Rai, an official from Minister Rai’s secretariat, the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure has allocated a total of Rs 1.258 billion for Khotang in the current fiscal year. This budget will fund 151 infrastructure schemes, including both one-year and multi-year projects.
