Westerly winds and moisture-laden air affecting Nepal’s weather



KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division has stated that the country is currently experiencing the influence of westerly and local winds, along with partial effects from moisture-laden winds originating from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea.

According to the Division, the western regions of Madhesh Province, Bagmati, Gandaki Provinces, and the hilly areas are partly to generally cloudy, while the rest of the country remains mostly clear to partly cloudy.

Light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is occurring in parts of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini Provinces, and isolated areas elsewhere in the country.

This afternoon, the weather is expected to be partly to generally cloudy in the hilly regions, including Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini Provinces, while the rest of the country will remain mainly clear to partly cloudy.

There is a chance of light to moderate rainfall, with thunder and lightning in several areas of the hilly regions, as well as the rest of the country. Additionally, light rain and snowfall are possible in a few places in the high hilly and mountainous areas.

Tonight, the weather will be partly to generally cloudy in the hilly areas, including Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces, while the remaining regions will stay mostly clear to partly cloudy.
