PM Oli Returns from Chitwan, Talks with Teachers to Begin Shortly

KATHMANDU:  Representatives of the Nepal Teachers’ Federation, who have been protesting in Kathmandu for 17 days demanding the immediate enactment of the School Education Bill, have arrived at Baluwatar for talks with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

The Prime Minister returned to the capital this evening after attending an event in Chitwan and has scheduled discussions with the protesting teachers shortly.

Federation General Secretary Tul Bahadur Thapa confirmed that the meeting was set for 7 PM and that their delegation had already reached Baluwatar.

Thapa reiterated that the protest would continue until the School Education Bill is passed. “The movement will go on until the Act is enacted,” he stated.

The teachers’ protest, ongoing since Chaitra 20 under the leadership of the Federation, has seen educators from across the country gather in Kathmandu.

Daily demonstrations along the Maitighar–New Baneshwor road section have significantly disrupted traffic in the capital.
