KATHMANDU: On the 17th day of the nationwide protest led by the Nepal Teachers’ Federation, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has invited the union for dialogue.
According to Federation’s General Secretary Tul Bahadur Thapa, the Prime Minister has called for a meeting at 7 PM on Friday evening. The federation’s delegation is preparing to attend the discussion.
“We will present our demands to the Prime Minister during the meeting,” Thapa said, adding that the protest will continue until the new Education Act is enacted.
Since Chaitra 20, teachers from across the country have gathered in Kathmandu under the leadership of the federation.
Their daily demonstrations along the Maitighar–New Baneshwor stretch have significantly affected traffic flow in the capital.
