Western low-pressure system continues to influence weather across Nepal

KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division has reported that a western low-pressure system is impacting weather conditions across the country.

As of now, skies are partly to generally cloudy nationwide, with mist and fog prevalent in the Terai region.

This afternoon, Karnali Province and Sudurpaschim Province will experience partly cloudy skies, while other regions are expected to remain mostly clear. By nighttime, Sudurpaschim Province will continue to see partial cloud cover, with clear skies forecasted for the remaining areas.

Light to moderate rain is anticipated in some locations in Karnali and Sudurpaschim Provinces, along with light rain in isolated areas of the hilly regions of Gandaki and Lumbini Provinces.

Additionally, the division has cautioned about the likelihood of light snowfall in many high-altitude areas of Karnali and Sudurpaschim Provinces, several locations in the high hilly and mountainous areas of Gandaki Province, and a few places in other provinces.

Snowfall could disrupt daily life, transportation, tourism, and air travel.

The public is advised to take necessary precautions, particularly in regions prone to snow, as these weather changes could affect health, mobility, and essential services.
