NEPSE gains 5.70 points, turnover rises to Rs 4.05 billion



KATHMANDU: The stock market posted modest gains on Wednesday, with the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rising by 5.70 points to close at 2,625.70 points.

Trading activity also improved, as total turnover increased to Rs 4.05 billion, up from Rs 3.44 billion recorded in the previous session.

Share prices of 143 companies advanced, while 104 declined and 11 remained unchanged. The finance group led the market with a gain of 1.75 percent.

Other advancing sectors included banking (0.31 percent), development banks (0.71 percent), hydropower (0.13 percent), investment (0.04 percent), life insurance (0.66 percent), manufacturing and processing (0.40 percent), microfinance (0.07 percent), and others (0.04 percent).

However, the trading group declined by 0.27 percent, while non-life insurance dropped by 0.36 percent and hotel and tourism slipped by 0.37 percent.
