Silver price hits record high, crosses Rs 4,000 per tola

KATHMANDU: The price of silver reached a new record high in the domestic market on Wednesday, crossing Rs 4,000 per tola for the first time.

According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, silver is being traded at Rs 4,055 per tola today. The price surged by Rs 170 per tola in a single day.

On the previous day, silver was traded at Rs 3,885 per tola. This marks the second consecutive record within a week. Earlier, last Wednesday, silver had hit a then-record price of Rs 3,905 per tola.

Meanwhile, the price of gold also increased on Wednesday. Gold rose by Rs 700 per tola to be traded at Rs 259,700 per tola, compared to Rs 259,000 per tola on the previous day.

Despite the increase, gold remains below its all-time high. On Monday, gold had touched a record high of Rs 260,700 per tola.

Market analysts attribute the rise in precious metal prices to global market trends and sustained demand, with silver showing particularly strong momentum in recent days.
